Eric Chan is a third-year family medicine resident at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. At the end of his residency, he'll be entering the U.S. Air Force to train as a flight doctor. Through his doctor's salary and stipends from the military, he earns $160,000 a year. He also has $1.2 million in savings and investments, which he's amassed in part by setting aside half of his income over the past few years.
