Alex Gil to give lecture at fall meeting

In coordination with our Fall meeting, ARC is pleased to announce that Dr. Alex Gil (Digital Scholarship Coordinator, Columbia University) will be giving a lecture titled “Praxis and Sustainability: building social structures in digital humanities”.  The lecture is scheduled for Friday, October 24 at 1:30 in the Glasscock Building on the campus of Texas A&M University.  Please join us if you are in the area.

Dr. Gil specializes in twentieth-century Caribbean literature and Digital Humanities, with an emphasis on textual studies. He has published in journals in Canada, France and the United States, while sustaining an open and robust online research presence. In 2010-2012 he was a fellow at the Scholars’ Lab and NINES at the University of Virginia. He now serves as Digital Scholarship Coordinator for the Humanities and History at Columbia University and as chair of the Global Outlook::Digital Humanities initiative and is actively engaged in several digital humanities projects at Columbia and around the world.
